Between You and Me brings together four major contemporary artists to explore the invisible relationships through which we see, interpret and understand the world around us.
Because meaning rarely exists on one side or the other.

Between You and Me brings together Julian Opie, Douglas Gordon, Mel Bochner and Ai Weiwei in an exhibition exploring the shifting space between observer and observed, image and identity, language and meaning, individual and authority.
Across radically different practices, each artist creates an encounter in which meaning is never contained entirely within the artwork itself. Instead, it emerges through the relationship established between the work and the person standing before it.
Julian Opie's figures transform the passing strangers of contemporary life into distilled signs of individuality and movement. Douglas Gordon disrupts the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe, introducing mirrored surfaces that literally place the viewer within the portrait. Mel Bochner turns familiar words into visual objects, revealing the unstable territory between what is said and what is understood. Ai Weiwei extends this exchange into questions of history, surveillance and power, asking who controls what is seen, preserved and remembered.
Between You and Me occupies this space of encounter: the moment when looking becomes participation and the distance between artwork and viewer begins to disappear.
