    Sebastiaan Knot's work is created in his studio, where he places a composition of simple shapes surrounded by studio lamps with different color filters. When shooting, the composition is illuminated simultaneously, resulting in a unique shot with scattered light, shadows, and mixed colors. This process creates a unique visual experience that challenges the viewer's perception of reality.

    Between You and Me

    Nothing we see exists entirely on its own 25 August - 10 October 2026

    Between a stranger and the person watching them.

    Between an icon and its image.

    Between a word and its meaning.

    Between the observer and the observed.

    Between You and Me brings together four major contemporary artists to explore the invisible relationships through which we see, interpret and understand the world around us.

    Because meaning rarely exists on one side or the other.

    It happens somewhere in between.

     

    Between You and Me brings together Julian Opie, Douglas Gordon, Mel Bochner and Ai Weiwei in an exhibition exploring the shifting space between observer and observed, image and identity, language and meaning, individual and authority.

    Across radically different practices, each artist creates an encounter in which meaning is never contained entirely within the artwork itself. Instead, it emerges through the relationship established between the work and the person standing before it...

    Umberto Ciceri creates Hypertrait artworks, which are lenticular panels based on neuroaesthetics that feature objects or figures in seemingly perpetual motion. The works use optical and kinetic processes, requiring the viewer's movement to amplify the visual phenomenon and create the illusion of motion and stillness.

    From the Eiffel Tower in Paris to Cloud Gate (often referred to as “the bean") in Chicago, humanity’s most ambitious large-scale sculptures inevitably seem to become the global icons that herald our cities, parks, and buildings.
    These giant works of art act as history’s public bookmarks, capturing snapshots of a moment in time for a society—its culture, its values, and the very possibilities it can imagine.  
    So why now, at the heart of an era when unprecedented technology continues to define nearly every aspect of our lives, do most public sculptures still feel decidedly 20th century in both their conception and realization? It is as if they are generations removed from this reality, and from the tectonic shifts that have reshaped who we are in a myriad of ways (so many, in fact, that we are all still working to identify them). 
    BREAKFAST envisions a world where public and commercial sculpture accurately and vibrantly reflects these incredible changes, not just in what it means to be an individual living suspended between digital and physical experiences, but also to be part of an increasingly global and deeply interconnected society where our fates seem more intertwined (and the future of our species murkier) than ever.
