OCEANS
Located in the West entrance of Fontainebleau in Las Vegas.Carrara marble, stainless steel, motors, software, computer
45 x 13.5 x 12 ft
Executed in 2023“Oceans” is a kinetic sculpture that embodies the dynamism of the world’s oceans within the arid landscape of Las Vegas. Crafted from 483 motorized elements known as “Brixels,” this piece mimics the movement of the sea’s surface. The sculpture is alive with the pulse of the planet’s waters, each motion informed by real-time oceanographic data sourced from over a hundred coastal cities globally. In a rhythmic cycle, “Oceans” undergoes a metamorphosis every few minutes, transitioning its undulating patterns to represent the aquatic conditions of a newly featured city.
As viewers approach and raise their hand, the sculpture responds, integrating their impression into the aquatic tableau. In this exchange, the observer becomes a co-creator, their presence impeding the “Oceans,” blurring the lines between art, technology, and the environment.

THE PEARL
Located in the royal promenade of Icon of the Seas.Painted aluminum, stainless steel, motors, software, computer
46 x 50 ft (14 x 15.3 m)
Executed in 2024"The Pearl" stands as a testament to the convergence of art and technology, a sculpture that is both monumental in scale and intricate in its execution. Nearly 3,000 computer-driven kinetic tiles form this 45-foot-tall (13.7 meters) and 53-foot-diameter (16 meters) artwork. Its uniqueness lies not just in its size, but in its ability to capture and reflect the essence of the sea. Mimicking the rolling waves, gentle breezes, shooting stars, and the dynamic ocean surface, The Pearl brings the tranquility and unpredictability of the sea to life.
The tiles, arranged in a Fibonacci sequence reminiscent of patterns found in marine life, move with a fluidity that evokes the ocean's natural rhythms. Intriguingly, several of these movements are influenced by real-time tidal and wind data from the Caribbean, allowing the sculpture to transform in response to its environmental conditions—ranging from serene to vibrant.
The creation of The Pearl is a story of dedication and innovation. It took the artist collective BREAKFAST over four years of conceptualization, design, and fabrication, with each component being meticulously custom-made. This commitment to craftsmanship and detail is palpable in the artwork's presence.
The Pearl is not just a sculpture but an immersive experience, inviting viewers to not only observe but to feel the pulse of the ocean's eternal dance.

30 ft x 7.5 ft x 6 ft
Executed in 2021Cedar Point Reeds is a kinetic sculpture visualizing the wind and wind energy production occurring at the Cedar Point Wind Farm—a 252 megawatt wind farm 80 miles east of Denver. The mechanical Reeds that make up the artwork move based on the real-time wind speed and bearing occurring at the wind farm. The power generation is represented by the illumination of the Reeds.
As we are all part of creating our sustainable future, the sculpture responds as one approaches it. The reeds will gather and illuminate in front of you, representing how we fit into the bigger story of achieving a clean energy future.

TORONTO WIND
Located in front of TD Terrace at 160 Front Street in Toronto, Canada.Stainless steel, anodized aluminum, motors, software, computer
5.9 x 5.6 m (19.4 x 18.4 ft)
Executed in 2024"Toronto Wind" is a dynamic kinetic sculpture that embodies the ever-changing wind currents of Toronto. This interactive art installation consists of 209 motorized elements, crafted from gold-tinted mirrored stainless steel and anodized aluminum, known as Brixels. These Brixels gently rotate to mirror the real-time wind patterns and gusts coursing through the city, symbolizing the fluid and unpredictable nature of urban life.
The sculpture offers a unique tactile experience reminiscent of feeling a breeze by extending your hand. As viewers stand on the sidewalk across from the sculpture, they have the opportunity to engage directly with the artwork. By raising a hand above their head, the sculpture will react by rotating the corresponding column of Brixels within the sculpture, enabling them to influence the representation of the wind.
