Not every painting begins with a story, a memory, or an idea that needs to be decoded. This work emerged without a predetermined concept or narrative. The artist’s intention was considerably simpler: to make a painting that felt visually compelling.

Three block-like figures gradually appeared within the composition, not through planning but through the intuitive process of painting. Although the number three carries countless symbolic associations, the artist deliberately resists assigning significance where none was intended. The figures exist because they worked—formally, visually, and instinctively.

That absence of explanation is central to the work. While much of the artist’s practice draws upon personal history, landscape, and memory, this painting embraces the pleasure of making for its own sake. It does not ask to be deciphered or burdened with meaning.

Sometimes a painting can simply exist because the artist thought it looked cool—and that, in itself, is enough.
