"The Ballerina represents the 'kinetic model' of my research, the provisional balance of human nature expressed in a dance step. This dance step highlights the presence of a central axis, around which to orbit - a symbol of our search for centrality, both on an individual and on a collective level. The rotating movement around oneself compromises and ascesis, a gravitation around one's central axis that always produces a force field, of which viewers will perceive the rhythmic unity, emerging from chaos.
The dance step I chose is drawn from one of the most famous dance pieces for ballet: The Dying Swan, a solo dance created by Russian choreographer Mikhail Fokine to Camille Saint-Saƫns' music.
The Ballerina interprets the passage between life and death by going through four emotions: disorientation, anger, acceptance and transformation. Thus, the Ballerina becomes a sublime and harmonious symmetry of contrasts, which allows the audience to establish a ceremony of commonality, an impulse towards unity and a sense of belonging"
